It’s our tradition to slow down and savour the winter season at our estate. The wine is resting in barrels, the fruits of our orchards were preserved in jars or distilled months ago and our vineyards are taking their long winter’s nap. Now the snow-capped mountains of the Dolomites call us outside!

Cross-country skiers on the VillandersAlp enjoy the peacefulness of nature far from the crowds in the big ski resorts. They may opt for skate skiing style or classic on the cross-country trails. The Villanders Alp trail is perfect for amateur skiers but is also an excellent training course for experts.

From December to March, with the special Klausen guest card, you can take the free winter bus directly to the most popular winter sports areas: Villanders Alp, Feldthurns and Barbian, Val Gardena, Seiser Alm, Plose, Mühlbach and the Rittner Horn.
Our free winter skibus is not just for skiers. The tourism association organizes hiking and snowshoeing outingsin the most beautiful areas of the Dolomites for anyone who wants to spend the day in a pristine winter landscape.

The atmosphere of Advent
The atmosphere at Spitalerhof is truly magical during Advent! Our terrace is transformed into a romantic winter wood with the sounds of Advent, crackling fires and mulled wine to warm your heart. It is just like a Christmas market in front of the hotel. But you still won’t want to miss a stop at the famous Christmas markets nearby. Every town boasts its own special magic: Klausen holds a Medieval-themed Christmas market featuring stands selling handmade goods and local specialities and guided tours with traditional night watchmen. The Bolzano Christmas market is Italy’s largest and most impressive, while the Brixen market is particularly festive, with magical light shows and traditional Christmas music in Piazza Duomo, the cathedral square.
Even Merano, Sterzing and Bruneck shine in the magic of their Christmas markets, while Lake Kaltern and Lake Braies offer smaller versions with their own special charm. We would be delighted to give you directions and information on when the markets are open.
